We have a lot of work ahead of us! Of course it’s about saving the world again, but never, oh never, did we have a loaf of bread as protagonists. This is original! Get ready for an amazing adventure Tipain and his friends. 😉

In the tradition of Paper Mario, from which it is directly inspired, Born from bread is a mix of role-playing (we recruit a team, we equip, we develop, we have turn-based battles with QTEs to optimize the effects…) and exploration/adventure with very funny dialogues. If you like puns and bread, you’ve come to the right place!

On an artistic level it’s really cool: slick graphics, a nice 2D/3D mix (even if, unlike Paper Mario, it doesn’t make sense to have flat characters), nice animations, cool music, well-made cutscenes, we’re fast inside this absurd universe.

For those in the know, the gameplay offers nothing new (apart from some delirium based on “spectators” during our fights), but it is an effective and proven recipe (yum), it works very well indeed. Apart from a few slightly quirky puzzles, the dialogue and confrontations flow smoothly, the plot is well paced, it’s great!

Some bugs and crashes bothered me, we have to hope the developers release a patch to make it perfect. 🤞 The other “slightly” annoying thing is that the game ultimately falls short of its role models. If you have a Switch, I would honestly recommend you go for it Super Mario RPG or wait for the remake of Paper Mario: The Millennium Door.

But if you don’t have a Nintendo console then Born from bread is a very good palliative, an adventure that you can eat without being hungry! It is completely unconventional, fun, fresh and has a controlled lifespan (about 15 hours), a great discovery! I give it 🥖🥖🥖🥖🥖🥖🥖/10
